Hello Herold, sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I'm a teacher and
things are very busy! I want to give you some names and dates for the index
but I can't figure out how to tell if they might already be in some
addendum, so I'll just send them all. My mother was Doris Van Auken, P-7(or
8?).
She was born in Michigan to Wilbur and Vera VA, and given up for adopti
(after their divorce) before she was a year old. Her name was chang
Madelon Haring, and after her death in 1992 I found her adoption papers with
her birth name on them. That started my search! It's always so amazing to
find one-half of your family that you knew nothing about! Now I'm pret
involved in research on the southwest Michigan bunch of VAs. I'll start
with Aaron (Marinus - Pieter - Gideon-Johannes) because he was the first one
to come to Michigan, although all his children were born in NY. I'm su
I'm repeating many facts that you already have, but hope this will add a
little to your data base. I have a sort of unique (or odd) way of writing
out my genealogy but I think it is fairly understandable. For one I sorted
out the 2 Rhoda wives of Daniel VA, and I've found some missing children of
John M, and one unknown son of Aaron - Benjamin. Probably there are so
mistakes, but I've spent a lot of time look at census, cemetary, family
bible, and local history stuff and also communicating with a previously
unknown cousin who has lived in Paw Paw MI all her life. This whole group
lived in or near Van Buren County. Okay - I'm sending this as an
attachment, which I'm not too experienced at, so you might get it all! Let
me know if anything is helpful....hope I'm not wasting your time. Any
corrections would be great too! Thanks for all you do for our family
