Joseph Wright enlisted in the month of March or April 1776 at Roxbury, Mass. for one year in Capt. Bolster's Company~ in. Col. Learned's Regt. and was discharged in Bedford, Nev York; enlisted again 1 Feb 1777 in Capt. Reuben Slayton Company in Col. William Sheppard Regiment and Seventh Massachussets line and served as a soldier for three years succed-mg the time of sd enlistment and was discharged at the Highlands in N.Y. on 11 February 1780; At the town of Chester, Mass, he again enlisted in the month of April 1782 for the term of three years in Captain Christopher Woodbridges Company in Col. Graton's Reg't. and was transferred into Capt. Joseph William's company commanded by Col. Henry Jackson at West Point. Discharged June 1784 at the town of Springfield, Mass.
He delivered his first discharge papers for his first three yrs. service to Reuben Slayton on the 28 May 1792 with a Power of Attorney to receive money due for the arrearages of his wages from the United States. Both receipts signed for these above discharges appear in his Pension file # S45468 (11349--New York, shows death date Aug. 8, 1825.)
At the town of Chester, Mass. in 1791 he delivered his second discharge papers to Benjamin Alvord. That in the year 1795 he removed to the state of New York, town of Neversink, Sullivan County, where he applied for Pension.
