This brings up a point I noticed during the presentation. Was it an intentional omission that Benjamin's brother Isaac was missing from the tree? Since you had listed the rest of his brothers, Isaac was just as prominent in Hasbrouck history as well as in the Town of Shawangunk history that he, too, should be mentioned.
Isaac b. March 12, 1712 was Joseph's second eldest son after Abraham. Isaac married Antje Low, daughter of Timothy & Hendrickje Cool Low. Isaac left Guilford & moved to Shawangunk. He built his home on land he acquired along the Wallkill River. His wood framed house, that he built in 1766, still exists today on the Albany Post Road, but is now considered in the Town of Gardiner. From there, his property extended all the way to where the Shawangunk Church is now located.
On January 10, 1751, Isaac purchased a parcel of land consisting of six acres from Robert Graham, a local innkeeper. Shortly after the purchase, construction began on the parsonage which was completed in October, 1751. At one of the congregational meetings at the parsonage it was decided it was time to build a church. A building committee was formed consisting of Jacobus Bruyn, Gerret Decker, Abraham Terwilliger, Hendrick Van Weyen, and Isaac. They raised funds by selling a church subscription list. The committee managed to get 80 men & women to sign it and pledge money toward the construction of the church. The total amount of pledges came to 692.15.6 pounds. On January 10, 1752, construction began with Isaac hauling six & Hendrick Van Weyen five loads of stones to the job site.
Isaac served with the 4th Regiment Ulster County Militia and agreed to the terms of the Land Bounty Rights. he was very active in politics and was Supervisor of Shawangunk from 1751 to 1752.
